Lanzarote: form heat to wind
MarConfort Hotels-21/06/2011
Summer arrival in Lanzarote is being a little more 'revolutionary' than usual. Since last Monday, meteorological alerts are ranging from yellow to orange because of temperatures up to 312K, recorded on Tuesday at Guacimeta airport. Thursday or Friday temperatures will drop, not the wind, whose prognosis remains yellow alert by winds of 75 km/h.
As lavozdelanzarote.com reported, early hours of Monday to Tuesday were also extremely hot. The minimum temperature was recorded at 2:00 AM, 303K. At 8:00 AM, thermometer had exceeded 308K.
Fighting against heat, Lanzarote people have filled off the coast of the island, leaving scenes of crowded beaches, children and adults swiming late in the afternoon.
Their seemed to start getting used to stifling heat, but today (Wednesday), the Meteorological Agency (AEMET) in the Canary Islands has declared a yellow alert in Lanzarote by winds up to 75 km/h. due to shore phenomena and events.
The notice takes effect at midnight Wednesday and will be active until 00:00 on Saturday. Other islands are not affected by the timing of this weather alert.
