Timanfaya Natural Park
Timanfaya was declared as a National Park on the 9th of August 1974. It occupies an extension of 51,07 km2 at the island south-east; the whole Park is of volcanic origin.
The last eruptions took place between 1730 and 1736, in the XVIII century. Amongst the most important volcanoes, Montañas de Fuego, Caldera del Corazoncillo y Montaña Rajada are to be mentioned. The volcanic activity still exists, with heat points at the surface which reach 100 ºC -120 ºC and 600 ºC at 13 metres deep.
Fundación César Manrique
It is a great cultural centre of the island, which is known world wide, as it embraces the work of the magnificent artist, painter, sculptor and architect born in Lanzarote.
El Golfo
That is the name of a crater at sea level, with a Green Lagoon; this colour stems from the algae living at the surface.
Jameos del Agua
At the north of Lanzarote, next to Monte de la Corona volcano, whose last eruption was 3000 years ago, one of the most interesting systems of caves and volcanic tubes (Jameos) in the world starts. This volcanic tube reaches the sea and connects, through the Seven Lakes Cave, with the Green Cave (Cueva de los Verdes)
Mirador del Río
Located on the north of the island at 479 m. over the sea level, it is the most important César Manrique’s constructions. From Mirador del Rio you can satisfy your eyes by looking at the Archipiélago Chinijo “ Small Archipelago”, with La Graciosa Island.
