Torremolinos, European Capital of University Beach Volleyball

Torremolinos becomes European capital of university beach volleyball next week, from 18th to 22nd July. 44 pairs, male and female, will compete for the title of VIII European University Championship on the beaches of this beautifull town of the Costa del Sol.

Malaga University is the organizer of this event, which can be very interesting for the guests of Marconfort hotels in Torremolinos. Games are played on four courts located in Playamar, stands for around 1,000 people are to be installed in central court.

The competition will begin on July 18th in the group stage, which runs until July 19th from 9:00 am 6:00 pm both days. For this phase seven male groups and five female will be formed, from which come the matches of the final phase. This final stage of the tournament will be held on 20th, 21st and July 22nd, at a time of 9:00 am to 6:00 pm the first day, second from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and  9:00 am to 7:00 pm last day when semifinals and finals will be held.

33 universities from Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, France, Ireland, Czech Republic, Poland, Norway, Portugal, Austria, Russia, Turkey and Lithuania, participate in the event. Representing the Spanish sports are the universities of Malaga, La Coruna, Murcia. The pairs formed by Chema Miguel Angel Ariza and love, men, and Evangelia Merteki and Eva Maria Lopez, women, have great potential.
